Oil coolers, aftercoolers and combined cooler assemblies are often identified visually, but external similarity can hide important differences in core thickness, internal circuit, port arrangement, mounting points and pressure capability.
The best identifier is the original part number. If it is unavailable, send clear photos of the complete cooler from both sides and provide overall length, width and thickness; mounting-hole spacing; port positions and sizes; and machine model/serial number. If the unit is a combined oil/air cooler, identify which ports belong to each circuit.
Damage type also matters. A request for replacement after leakage, external impact, contamination or overheating can require different supporting information. Do not pressure-test, repair or modify a cooler unless the work is performed by a qualified party using an appropriate procedure for the component.
